The Mcglots had been busy all week, Diana Anna had made sure of that. This party business had more to it that even Mrs. Mcglots had expected. There was the food to buy, bake and embellish, the house to clean and decorate, invitations to make and hand out, and of course Diana Anna needed a new party dress to wear. Mrs. Mcglots had decided that the new dress would be hand sewn, but this turned out to be every bad idea. Diana Anna had loved the thought of a handmade dress, but after a few days of sewing and sewing Mrs. Mcglots couldn’t take it anymore. So they had determined to take Diana to a tailor to have the clothing made. But, the tailor had said it would take quite a sum and a few weeks to have such a fancy dress, as Mrs. Mcglots had described to her, completed. That wouldn’t do. So Mrs. Mcglots was now on a quest for the perfect pre-handmade dress. Sigh. There was also the trouble of finding a good date on which to host the festivity.
Mr. Mcglots considered the whole thing ludicrous and wouldn’t have anything to do with it. Fred, Diana Anna’s pet Monkey (as I have already told you), was following Diana Anna and Mrs. Mcglots all around in utter amazement. He had never seen Diana Anna so excited and nervous, using the phone nonstop and going on errands with her mother nearly everyday. Fred had never seen Mrs. Mcglots, who was usually cool and collected, in such an uproar. She was running all over the place like a chicken with its head cut off, baking, shopping, cleaning, and baking some more.
Mango, another one of Diana’s pets (a frog), was more like Mr. Mcglots, deeming Diana Anna and Mrs. Mcglots quite crazy, and thought that only when the two of them calmed down they would again be worthy of his notice. Until then, Mango was completely ignoring Diana Anna and Mrs. Mcglots, ducking out of view whenever he heard them coming. The only one who seemed to have as much enthusiasm for the party as Diana Anna and her mother was Diana’s second frog, G. In fact, G. was more excited than both Diana and Mrs. Mcglots put together! G. would not stop hopping up and down, up and down, up and down, crocking as he did so. He was thrown outside countless times by Mr. Mcglots.
Yes, Diana Anna Mcglots party was shaping up to be quite a…hm… to say the least, quite an interesting event.
